It has a bulk density of 162 lb/ft3, a modulus of rupture of 1,600 lb/in2 at 70°F reducing to 1,200 lb/in2 at 2300°F, and a cold crushing strength of 8,000 lb/in2. After firing to 2910°F, it exhibits a permanent linear change of +3.4% and an apparent porosity of 18.0%.
