Financial Aid Reflection

1. What financial assistance does the FAFSA offer? Based on your application, do
you qualify for assistance through the FAFSA? If so, how much do you expect to receive
and how will you use this money?
The FAFSA gives you access to a large source of financial aid to pay for your college or
career school by providing grants or loans. In my application, I do qualify for assistance
through FAFSA. I will receive $5775. I will use the money to pay for school, purchase
school supplies, and cover transportation.
2. Are you eligible to receive the Cal Grant? If so, how much do you expect to
receive and how will you use this money?
I am eligible for Cal Grant B. I would be eligible for about $1473. I will use the money for
school supplies and transpiration.
3. Are you eligible to receive a Board of Governors Fee Waiver? If so, do you plan
on applying for the BOG Fee Waiver?
Yes, I am eligible to receive a Board of Governors Fee Waiver. Yes, I plan on applying for
it.
4. Describe your findings from the private scholarship search. Do you plan on
applying to any of the scholarships available? If so, to which are you planning to apply
and how much do you expect to receive if you are accepted?
Most scholarships require 500-1000 word essays in addition to certain minimun Grade
Point Average. Many scholarships are specific about qualifications in terms of who can
apply. For example, there are some that require you to be a military dependent or really
involved with community service. I am planning on applying to Abbott & Fenner
Scholarship and the award is $1000 per semester.
