1. Interactive Science Vocabulary- One way to help both my general
education and ELL students would be through the use of an interactive science vocabulary website. On this website the students would have the opportunity to read the vocabulary terms in both English and their native language, as well as seeing videos or images to help them better understand the vocabulary terms. (http://www.hbschool.com/glossary/science/intro.html) 2. Rapid Pace of Curriculum- The website provides free PowerPoints that could be used by your students to aid in their learning. These PowerPoints allow the students to review daily topics at their own pace, and on their own time at home. (http://science.pppst.com/index.html) 3. Directly Matching Activity to Assessments- At the beginning of my units I will make sure to first identify the big picture, and what I expect my students to explain to me by the end of the unit. As I progress through the planning stages I will create activities that directly connect the expected learning targets with the exam questions. 4. Lack of Laboratory Experiences- One way that I will help my students is through the incorporation of more hands on laboratory activities. The students will be able to gain the kinesthetic learning opportunities that they require in order to build a stronger scientific background. 5. Student centered learning- The following website provides students with the opportunity to see how science can be used in their various sporting activities. This website could be used as an introductory activity or whenever the teacher would like to make stronger real world connections to the classroom material.
