How to find the magic number:

1. You need to find the sum of the numbers, so you add 13 and
18(9)
3. 13+5=18
2. Next, you must find out the number
of items. The items are
2
the numbers you have listed. Since the magic square can only
have nine numbers the number of items you have is nine.
3. Once you have found the sum of the numbers and the number
of items you need to multiply and divide to find out the magic
number.

4. Once you have the answer 81 you must divide by 3.

You are dividing by 3 because you have a 3 by 3
graph.

The magic
number

Now it is time to create the magic square!!!

Keep in mind that the sum of the square when
you add horizontally, vertically, and diagonally
must equal the magic number.

5. Now you have to find a combination of three numbers from

the set of number 5-13 that equal 27.
6. You take the highest number which is 13 and put it as the first
number then take the lowest number which is 5 and put that as
the last number and set it equal to 27.
EX: 13+___ +5 =27
7. Next you have to find the number that completes the equation.
Once you have done the first equation you have to come up
with seven more equations.
13+9+5=27
13+8+6=27
12+10+5=27
12+9+6=27

12+8+7=27
11+10+6=27
11+9+7=27
10+9+8=27

8. Once you have all eight equations now you have to fill in the
square the high number goes in the middle then the second
highest goes in the corner.
9. To determine which number is the highest you take the
numbers 5-13 and count how many times you have used each
number in the equations you came up with.
