Volleyball Drill-Book: Beginner (Level)

- 3.7 Setting Drills for game-like situations

Equipment:

Three players - one ball

Teaching Points:

In order to take a sturdy position at an early

stage the players have to anticipate the trajectory of the ball
This triangle-drill is important because the
players learn angular-passes (the earlier the
better)
When the ball starts descending the players have
to begin adjusting their body position with regards to the direction they want to pass the ball

Drill Objective:
Performing an angular-overhand
pass while in constant motion

Drill Description:
A, B and C are standing in a triangle
facing each other. A performs a
overhand pass to B and runs after
the ball in order to be the coverage
for the now receiving player B.
Afterwards A returns to his/her initial
position. After having set the ball to
him-/herself B performs another
overhand pass to C, also runs after
the ball in order to be the coverage
for the now receiving player C and
returns to his/her position. The same
procedure works for C.

3
Drill Variations:

To ease the drill the players

dont have to move after their
passes
Change the initial positions in
the triangle
Leave out the self-setting
The players now have the
possibility to pass while jumping
