- 2.11 Receiving Drills for game-like situations

Equipment:

6-16 players with one ball box


One target area (cones)

Teaching Points:

T can control this drill very easily if he/she


performs the services him- or herself
This drill requires tremendous stamina of all
beginners

Drill Objective:
Precision of receiving under difficult
conditions

Drill Description:
In short time intervals A (Coach)
serves balls into the opposite
longitudinal corridor. B, C, D and E
try to receive the balls and bumppass them to the players F and G
who are standing in a target area
close to the net. F and G are not
allowed to leave that area at no
point of time. As a consequence, the
receivers have to bump-pass the
balls in such a way so that the setters
can catch them above their heads
without having to move. However, if
F or G leaves the area he/she
changes positions with the receiver.
If the receiver doesnt succeed in
bump-passing he/she has to collect
the ball and put it into the ball-box of
A.
