Strengths:

1. Students are engaged and willing to participate throughout each of

the activities. It helped that it was the beginning of a new unit and we
had new topics and concepts to discuss.
2. Transitions between stages of the activities were smooth because
of pre-planning. There were no awkward moments where students
had time to loose their focus on the tasks at hand.
3. (5:35) Students have gotten really good at finding definitions to
words based on the context they are found in. As they have done this
activity before, they were able to finish it more quickly and effectively
than in the past.

Questions:
A goal of mine when delivering this lesson was to make the activity
as engaging as possible while using the least amount of
technological support possible. So I wonder:
1. How could I have made these activities more engaging or
interactive without implementing technology?
2. If I were to implement technology into this lesson I would want to
make the transitions smoother and the content more engaging by
using visual aids. What other ways could I utilize technology to make
this lesson even more engaging?

Concerns and Suggestions:

1. (3:38) I should have written all three of the pre-reading questions
on the board and gone over them with the class before asking the
students to read the passage.
2. (5:28) Instead of having students stay in the same groups as in the
previous activity, it might have been helpful to have students switch
partners. This strategy often leads to a wider variety of collaboration
styles between students.

Action plan:
1. In the future I will try to diversify student-student interactions by
having them change groups more often. Hopefully this will expose
students to different kinds of negotiation styles and peer feedback.
2. If I were to have implemented technology in this lesson I would
have been able to display pre-reading questions more quickly, thus
saving valuable learning time.
