JOEY G, PELAEZ RESOLUTION STRONGLY SUPPORTING THE FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF THE K-TO-12 BASIC EDUCATION PROGRAM AND URGING ALL STAKEHOLDERS TO HELP THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION (DEPED) IN ITS IMPLEMENTATION. WHEREAS, pursuant to Republic Act No. 10533, otherwise known as the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013, the Department of Education (DepEd) will implement the new Philippine Basic Education System which covers one year of Kindergarten, six years of elementary, four years of junior high school, and an additional two years of senior high school dubbed as the K-to-12 Basic Education Program; WHEREAS, the Senior High School Program will be implemented starting School Year 2016-2017, needing immense logistical and financial support from all stakeholders from national to local levels; WHEREAS, it is high time for the country to fully embrace the K-to-12 Basic Education Program to enable our young people to compete in the global and international stage with world-class competencies, skills and values;Page 2 of Resolution No. 134-2015 WHEREAS, the Philippines remains to be the only country in Asia and one of the three remaining countries in the world that have yet to implement the twelve-year program of basic education, placing our graduates at a disadvantaged position in an increasingly global market; WHEREAS, the implementation of the K-to-12 Basic Education Program has far-reaching and beneficial effects on the quality of basic education system of the country which is much needed for the upcoming 2015 ASEAN Economic Community Integration as the K-to-12 Basic Education cumiculum has been designed to match with the basic education system of other ASEAN Member Communities; WHEREAS, all things considered, the K-to-12 Basic Education Program will redound fo the benefit of the young people and their families especially the poor and the underprivileged, of respective communities and the industries within, and of the country as a whole ~ its postponement should never be an option; WHEREFORE, RESOLVED AS THE SANGGUNIANG PANLALAWIGAN HEREBY RESOLVES, TO STRONGLY SUPPORT THE FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF THE K-TO-12 BASIC EDUCATION PROGRAM AND URGE ALL STAKEHOLDERS TO HELP THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION (DEPED) IN ITS IMPLEMENTATION. RESOLVED FURTHER, TO ENCOURAGE THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION (DEPED) TO EXHAUST ALL MEASURES TO SUCCESSFULLY IMPLEMENT THE K-TO-12 BASIC EDUCATION PROGRAM AND TO ENSURE THAT ALL THE NECESSARY RESOURCES NEEDED FOR ITS IMPLEMENTATION SUCH AS CLASSROOMS, BOOKS, (COMPETENT TEACHERS, EQUIPMENT AND OTHERS ARE READY. RESOLVED MOREVER, TO CALL ON THE “BAYANIHAN” SPIRIT OF WELL- MEANING LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNITS, PRIVATE GROUPS AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS TO HELP AND SUPPORT THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE K-TO-12 BASIC EDUCATION PROGRAM. RESOLVED TO PROVIDE COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES, VICE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES, SENATE PRESIDENT, SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, CHIEF JUSTICE AND ASSOCIATE JUSTICES OF THE SUPREME COURT OF THE PHILIPPINES, CHAIR OF THE SENATE COMMITTEE ON: EDUCATION, CHAIR OF THE HOUSE COMMITTEE ON BASIC EDUCATION, A TEACHER PARTYLIST REPRESENTATIVE, SECRETARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, GOVERNOR, REPRESENTATIVES, MAYORS AND VICE MAYORS OF THE PROVINCE OF MISAMIS ORIENTAL.
