Ann Arbor Physician Summarily Suspended

For Immediate Release - The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) has
immediately suspended the license to practice medicine of Wessam Boutros Bou-Assaly, M.D.,
based on his conviction in the 15thJudicial District Court, Washtenaw County, Michigan.
On April 24, 2014, Bou-Assaly pled no contest to Attempted Criminal Sexual Conduct Fourth
Degree (Force or Coercion). On June 13, 2014, Bou-Assaly was sentenced to serve one year in jail
(sentence suspended), placed on probation for a term of 24 months, and ordered to pay $1,260.00
in fines, costs, and fees.
On June 24, 2015, LARA issued an order summarily suspending Bou-Assalys license pursuant to
the Public Health Code, which provides for the summary suspension of a health professionals
license when it is found the public health, safety, or welfare requires emergency action.
