will, Bonnie, and you've got to believe that.' But believing was hard because Paul was so sick and each
day he got worse. I always put his picture on the desk
during the show . God was good. Paul did get better.
And the first day he came back-oh, a tremendous
reaction. After the show I went off into a corner by
myself and bawled ... .''
And then, happily for Bonnie, along came one of
the nicest guys in the world: Milt!
Shy and unused to the ways of show business, he
was at first bewildered by the world he was meeting.
But Bonnie cheerfully warned him before they were
married: "Now, honey, you're just going to have to
get used to all this!"
He had a lot to get used to, though.
One evening after they were married , he was leaving the station when the Hayride was finished. He
walked through the lobby with Kenny Price-and Milt
was immediately besieged by autograph seekers . Poor
Kenny stood by, looking lost. No one asked him for his
autograph and I know exactly how he feels. The same
happens with me when I'm with Scratchy. Anyway,
Milt gave out a couple of autographs but he was confused. He told one of the women: "But why should
you want my autograph? I'm not even on the Hayride.''
The answer stopped him cold.

Yes, Milt had a lot to get used to.
When Bonnie first announced her engagement to
Milt-she did it on the Dixon Show, of all places!what a day Milt had. He had left his_store in Cheviot
