Course Description
This course is divided into two major areas i.e. Curriculum and Instruction. The first
area provides an overview of the principles, procedures and practices in curriculum
development and syllabus design. The focus is on the development, implementation
and evaluation of the curriculum and syllabus in the different areas of specialization.
Current trends and issues related to curriculum development and syllabus design
will also be discussed. Th second area focuses on instruction and instructional
materials. Principles, methods, and techniques in classroom instruction and
instructional materials development are discussed.
Course Outcomes
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
1. Describe the principles and procedures in curriculum and syllabus design,
2. Design curriculum and syllabus for a specific groups of learners,
3. Describe the school curriculum and syllabus,
4. Discuss approaches, methods, and techniques in classroom instruction,
5. Prepare lesson plan for classroom instruction,
6. Design, utilize and evaluate instructional materials for use in teaching.

minutes session of
micro teaching
based on the
prepared lesson
plan.

Grading Policies
The grading scale as explained in the course catalogue will be used:
80-100% = A
65-69% = B
50-54% = C
75-79% = A60-64% = B70-74% = B+
55-59% = C+
Test
Students will demonstrate their knowledge in two
tests. (2x20)
Course Design
Students will submit a written group project on
course design.
Oral
Students will present a review of an article.
Presentation
Article review
Students will submit a written review of an article
Lesson Plan and
