Dear Fellow Resident, As you may already know, there is a proposal to turn the quarry at 609 Scenic Road into a landfill for construction waste. A website to communicate our serious concerns and planshas been created (http://thescenicgroup.wix.com/the-scenic-group). Our concerns include: Water contamination. We all share water from the same shallow and deep aquifers in the area. Contamination of the Rock River watershed, Meadow Brook, Bark River, Bark Lake and Wetlands. Health of the community (dust, noise, safety, water). Hazards from traffic and debris from hundreds of dump trucks on our scenic roads each day of operation. Safety, noise, and dust of trucks passing Amy Belle School. Those with special health conditions. Declining property values. Economic decline due to loss of traffic to businesses.
We are hiring an attorney to represent the
community concerns. If you share our concerns, please donate funds to support the attorney who is representing us. How to contribute to fighting the landfill: Attorney Alan Marcuvitz from von Briesen& Roper, S.C. was involved in successfully preventing a landfill in Brookfield. The situation was very similar to what we are facing. Any donations, large or small are appreciated.
