Welded Beam Calculation
Welded Beam Calculation
The aim of this calculation is to calculate the size of the weld required to connect the web to the flange for welded
section as delivered on site. The calculations will be based on the most critical forces to be resisted by sections.
Values wil be extracted from calculation previously submitted to the consultant for approval.

Calculated Shear
distance between centroid of top flange with centroid of girder
Moment of inertia of girder about x-x axis
From analysis carried out, section will have to resist a maximum moment of 306kNm
Refer to Member 26, combination 4, at a distance of 1.4m from centre of support (taking into account haunch)

Using E35 electrode as mentioned above.
On both sides, 6mm fillet provided continuous welds, strength 0.92 kN/mm. This is the minimum size
weld to be used.
Longitudinal Capacity of weld provided > Hence Applied Horizontal Shear (WELDED BEAM OK)
