The Era of the Black Bird

(An analysis to the play entitled BLACK BIRD)

Everyone of us in this world were created equally. Eventhough we have

different cultures, language and skin color, all of us blessed with the right to speak,
to feel, and to show whats inside our minds.
While watching the Blackbird, my blood is rushing through my veins rapidly
and I feel indifferent during that time. When I saw the black characters which are
the Africans being pushed and pointed with guns to kidnap them and sell to the
market to make them slaves, I thought Im the real situation in the history way back
1760s in Africa. Where most of the Africans were kidnapped and sold to American
and European people because of the demanded workforce due to the intensive
agriculture progression. Most of their lives were vanished by serving other
countries. But I see the light of the story, when Sam, a lawyer with great dignity,
sees the intelligence and ability of his servant behind its dirty and innocent
appearance. He teaches this man all what he knows and as the time goes by they

succeeded and his servant goes back to his tribe and share his new knowledge.
Unfortunately, the government killed them like animals.
In my observation, this play was entitled BLACK BIRD because the story
centers the African people who serve their whole lives to the racist nations. But as
the time goes by, they want to learn and speak on their own like a bird that can fly
freely with their own abilities. And in our present times, many of the Africans
created their names and show the world what they can really do, as I should say this
is their time now. This is their time to commit the equality to the society and to
show what theyve got despite of the darkness of their lives.
