Wheelchair: For students in wheelchairs using exercise


Frisbees with soft middle will work for the kicking portion.
Students should use Frisbees to bounce balls in the air with
both one hand and two hands.

Practice kicking the ball on a string

Students stand on poly spots making a circle


Students practice kicking the ball in the air once then
resetting.
Students practice continuously kicking ball in the air
Students practice moving from one poly spot to another
while continuously kicking their ball in the air. They may not
stay on their poly spot

Low Variations

Have the teacher or aide hold the string while the student
kicks the ball until they feel comfortable holding it on their
own.

Increase distance between poly spots.


Musical Chairs with poly spots (No one gets out in this
musical chairs)

Students practice moving from one poly spot to another
while continuously dribbling their ball on the ground. They
may not stay on their poly spot
Students begin practicing dribbling the ball along the chalk/
tape line.

Low Variations

Have the teacher or aide hold the string while the student
kicks the ball until they feel comfortable holding it on their
own.

Increase distance between poly spots.

Objective
Activity

Practice two-footed and one-footed Jumping

Low Variations

Students partner up
Students lay ribbon down on gorund and practice different
jumps (fron/back, side/side, jump/turn)
Next one partner holds string while other is the jumper.
One partner will swing/roll the ball in a circle by lowering
body and holding on to the string. (like a skip-it)
Other student will jump over the string with two feet and
then repeat with each rotation of the ball and string.
Students will switch and repeat.
After two-footed jumping students can change to onefooted jumping.
Competition see which group can get the most
consecutive jumps in 30 seconds. Switch partners and
repeat.

Have the teacher or aide hold the string and roll ball with
string in a circle to allow students to jump over

Increase speed of circles for less time between jumps.

with one hand
Competition see who can catch the most consecutive
tosses (toss must be above the head)

Have the teacher or aide hold the string while the student
tosses the ball to him or herself. This allows student to
catch ball with both hands.

Increase tossing distance.
