- 6.13 Defense Drills for gamelike situations

Teaching Points:

Both, block-players and defenders, have to


communicate precisely in order to clarify the
individual responsibilities in the spatial allocation

8-12 players with 1 ball container

Drill Objective:
Coordination between block-player
and block coverage

Drill Description:
In the center of court is T standing in
an elevated position. Another setter
is at the net, while a queue of
attackers is waiting on position 2. On
the other half of the court, there are
standing two block-players and 2
defenders on position 5 and 6, as
well as a ball-catcher at the net.
Immediately after the first attack T
hits another ball right behind the
block. Depending on who is
responsible, one of the defending
players passes the ball to the ballcatcher.
