En la poca de Ams la vocacin de profeta haba adquirido una posicin muy formal en Israel.
Originalmente los profetas haban surgido como
los portavoces de Dios cuando Israel ya no se
vea guiado por las figuras religioso-civiles a
quienes conocemos como los Jueces, sino por
los Reyes. Al correr del empo la monarqua de
Israel se haba apropiado los oficios de sacerdote
y de profeta, establecindolos como rdenes, y
reservndose el derecho de nombrar profetas
oficiales para la corte real. Entonces, como ahora, cuando los que estaban en el poder escogan
a los que iban a servirles de conciencia oficial,
a veces las cosas se torcan. Y entonces Dios escoga profetas de donde menos se les esperaba.
As fue como Ams recibi su llamado a profe zar. En el Evangelio del domingo pasado vimos
cmo Jess surgi como el Ungido del
Seor aunque vena de un lugar que
muchos consideraban poco probable.
Y nosotros, cuando con nuamos discerniendo nuestro propio llamado
bau smal a ser discpulos, podemos
estar seguros de que estamos, en las
palabras de san Pablo: des nados
[para eso], por decisin del que lo hace todo segn su volund (Efesios 1:11).

La llamada de Dios
Las lecturas y su mensaje
Ams 7:12-15
El relato sirve ms que para informar sobre la vida de
Ams, para explicar por qu ya de nada vale la intercesin del
profeta y por qu se ha colmado la paciencia de Dios. Tampoco
se trata de una oposicin profetains tucin. De hecho, los que
estn en li gio no son Amasas y Ams, sino sus respec vos superiores: Jerobon y Dios. Amasas ha dejado de ser sacerdote
para conver rse en un funcionario del rey Jerobon. Un reino
donde la palabra de Dios es limitada no merece exis r.
Efesios 1: 3-14
La clave del fragmento es la frmula picamente paulina en Cristo, que aqu aparece repe damente. La frmula era
conocida para describir la vida del cris ano despus del bau smo. Aqu se incorpora al plan de Dios en los cielos, antes de la
fundacin del mundo, pero para desembocar en dos temas
tambin paulinos: la eleccin y la predes nacin. En esa predesnacin no vemos una predeterminacin de nuestros actos, sino
un plan de Dios que nos conduce a ines superiores.
Marcos 6:7-13
Jess ya haba ins tuido a los Doce en el captulo 3,
dndoles algunas de sus potestades con las que deban hacer
presente el Evangelio. Ahora es el momento del envo oicial.
Este ene caracters cas propias. De dos en dos. En aquel empo, la norma era que los acontecimientos importantes deban
ser declarados por lo menos ante dos tes gos. Tambin la compaa es importante para la mutua integracin, la proteccin, el
intercambio de experiencias y de trabajo. Luego las instrucciones de Jess sobre el viaje. Las exigencias de la misin i nerante son muy grandes. De ah que los peregrinos tengan la
necesidad de buscar las casas de la comunidad en las que
pueden ser recibidos. Esta ac tud de los apstoles es un smbolo
viviente. Su pobreza y simplicidad deben producir confianza y
aceptacin de parte de la comunidad.

Los evangelios relatan que Jess envi a los Doce apstoles y tambin a otros setenta y dos discpulos (Marcos 6:7; Lucas 10:1) de

preparaban el camino. El libro del Eclesiasts (4:9-12) subraya lo
sabio que es andar de dos en dos a fin de ayudarse y protegerse
mutuamente. El autor lamenta: Pobre del que est solo, cuando
se cae, no ene quien lo levante!.
Los cris anos nunca podemos ser cris anos a solas. A Jess le
gustan los grupos. No tenemos el lujo de ser individualistas o autosuficientes. Nuestra misin requiere que vayamos por el mundo
de dos en dos, porque donde estn dos o tres reunidos en el nombre de Jess, all estar l (Mateo 18:20). En el Gnesis (7:2) No
se lleva los animales de dos en dos, as las especies se volvern
numerosas comenzando de dos en dos. Jess enva sus discpulos
de dos en dos para que nos amemos y ayudemos los unos a los
otros y de esta manera los que vienen despus de nosotros, sean
tan numerosos como las estrellas del firmamento (Gnesis 15:5).

RCIA Classes
Classes are held in the Preschool Library, on
Wednesdays, at 7:00 p.m. star ng
September, 2015.

VIRTUS
The VIRTUS "Protecting God's Children
for Adults" is required for all who provide
either paid or volunteer ministry in our
Diocese who in the course of their
ministry come into contact with minors.
This includes parish ministries such as
Sacristans, Lectors, Ushers, and
Eucharistic Ministers. Space is limited
and
registration is required by
registering
online
at
www.virtusonline.org.
If you do not have access to a
computer, please call the Parish Office
at (478) 743-1454 and our Parish Staff
will
assist
with
your
online
registration.

REGISTER We are very glad you are here at
St. Peter Claver. If you would like to make St. Peter
Claver your home Parish, please complete a Parish
Census Form (available in the parish oce and
ves bule in back of the church) and either mail or
place in oertory basket at Mass. Persons wishing to
transfer membership from another Catholic parish are
also asked to complete a census form.

REGISTER FOR ST. PETER CLAVER SCHOOL Our

school accommodates children from K3 through 8th
grade. If you would like to register your child in our
school, please call (478) 743-3985.

SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE Diocesan regula ons

require that you meet with the priest at least
4 months prior to wedding date. Please contact the

SACRAMENT OF PENANCE 4:30 to 5:00 p.m.

Saturdays or by appointment.
HOLY ORDERS Any man who thinks God might be
calling him to be a priest should contact Father Dan at
743-1454.
