DETERMINING GAS ELECTIVE SUBJECTS

Specialized subjects for the GAS allow for two (2) electives for a total of 160
hours (Grades 11 and 12). These electives may be taken from the specialized
subjects of the TVL, Sports, Arts and Design tracks, and the other strands under
the academic track. Refer to the Senior High School (SHS) Curriculum and
Program Requirements found on the DepEd website.
Be guided by the following in choosing the electives:
a. As much possible, offer related electives.
b. Paired electives are to be offered together. The paired electives under
the same strand have the same literal suffix.
e.g. 1. Pre-calculus (b) and Basic Calculus (b)
e.g. 2. Fundamentals of Accountancy, Business and Management
1 (a) and
Fundamentals of Accountancy, Business and
Management 2 (a)
c. A specialization under any of the TVL strands is already equivalent to
two (2) electives at the least (160 hours). Note however, that
completion of these specializations does not always lead to a NC
(National Certification) but only to a COC (Certificate of Completion).
NC for some specializations require more than 160 hours.
