    What is a Mensch?

    Why is it that you are such a mensch is one of the greatest


    compliments a person can receive?
    Mench is a Yiddish word that simply means person. And
    everyone is a person, no matter how good or bad, honest or
    rotten. However, the word mensch has come to mean much,
    much more. So much more, in fact, that its almost impossible to
    define it in just a few words. So here is a list:

    A mensch is a person who is honest and fair a


    person of integrity.
    A mensch is a person who shares the last slice of
    pizza, recycles the soda cans, and helps to clean up
    without being asked when the party is over.
    A mensch is a person who shows respect for himself
    or herself and for others, and so is respected by
    others.
    A mensch is, quite simply, a good person.
    A mensch understands that he or she has the power
    to affect the world in amazing ways.
