STEINERT Overhead Suspension Magnets

Suspension magnets from STEINERT recover clean iron scrap for recycling, and
protect grinders, mills and other processing equipment against wear and damage.

STEINERT UM/AM can be used to remove unwanted tramp iron such as screws, nuts
and rock bolt from coal, coke, ore and other minerals, even at extremely fast belt
speeds ( 7.5 m/s), great working distances up to 1 m and high dumping heights.

Applications
Mining, bulk materials handling, port loading, scrap metal and waste recycling

Technology
STEINERT Suspension Magnets are distinguished by extremely powerful and farreaching magnetic fields. They are suspended above a conveyor belt and attract the
magnetic parts, pulling them up and out of the material flow. For optimal
performance, they should be mounted longitudinally above the outlet of the
material discharge unit.

STEINERT Suspension Magnets are often self-cleaning and equipped with a circular
conveyor belt; the extracted iron is conveyed out of the magnetic field by carrier
bars and then discharged. Pure suspension magnets (manual cleaners) are usually
electromagnetic (STEINERT UME) and used for parts with lower iron content and for
belts widths greater than 2 m. They only attract the iron. From time to time, a crane
way moves the magnet sideways away from the belt conveyor and the magnet is
switched off. The iron falls into the designated containers. Coal loaders up to 7000
t/h are typical for these types of magnetic separators. The exceptionally efficient
STEINERT Boomerang magnet (see image above) adapts its magnetic field to the
discharge parabola.
