To Whom It May Concern:
I am interested in applying for the Elementary or Special Education position
for the upcoming school year. For the 2014-2015 academic school year I
taught Kindergarten at Elizabeth Forward School District. I am lucky to be
able to pursue my passion in teaching and would love the opportunity to
work within your school district. This month, I have obtained my Masters in
Reading from Edinboro University in order to be a Reading Specialist and will
have my certification this August. I also have a Bachelor of Science degree in
Early Childhood and Special Education. I believe that my experiences
through teaching in a public school, reading clinical, student teaching,
volunteering for after school programs, and working one-on-one with
students with disabilities at the college level with test preparation and
organization will greatly impact the success of all of your students regardless
of learning ability.
Throughout my first year of teaching in a public school system I learned how
to relate assessment to planning lessons, classroom management, and time
management. I administered the NWEA MAP assessment three times per
academic year to monitor the growth of the students. These results aided in
my development of lessons, small group work, and one-on-one instruction.
Teaching kindergarten taught me patience and how to create token
economies that work. Throughout my college career, I have over 125 field
related hours working in a school as well as a semester of student teaching
in both suburban and urban school districts. During the fall of 2013 I
completed student teaching in a special education classroom in Erie, PA. I
taught a modified curriculum in 6 th grade for Language Arts and Social
Studies in a support classroom as well as co-teaching in the general
education. I completed my second half of student teaching in a third grade
classroom in Edinboro, PA. These experiences challenged me to be creative,
nurturing, and patient.
I believe that students learn best in a welcoming and nurturing environment
where the students have a say in their learning. I encourage student learning
by incorporating hands-on activities, various forms of technology, creative

learning centers, and fun manipulatives. These methods prove to stimulate

students social, emotional, physical, and academic growth. I have many
experiences working with technology in the classroom. In the Kindergarten
classroom that I taught, all students were provided an iPad from the school
district. I use these techniques to foster an exciting and engaging
atmosphere. My greatest capability is creating and sustaining working
relationships with all members of the school community. I create and send
out monthly newsletters to keep parents up-to-date on what is going on in
the classroom. I also use a class website to relay news and pictures to
parents. I also am willing to collaborate with fellow teachers to develop new
activities and refine teaching techniques to improve the learning of the
students. Furthermore, I establish a good rapport with all students and make
certain that they receive sufficient praise and positive reinforcement.
I would enjoy the opportunity to discuss qualifications and credentials in
further detail, as I am confident I would be a valuable addition to your
academic team. Please contact me at your earliest convenience.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Traficante
