These will still be followed

Out of town dates (guests) must sign up by required deadline
Once a student leaves any prom activity, he or she will not be
allowed to return to any further prom activities.
Prom date individuals must be in 9th grade and no older than
21 years of age.(the minimum age will change in new policy)
JCC School District will not be responsible for post prom
activities.

Rationale for Improving Prom

Policy
Prom is a school sponsored activity and should follow the
rules of other respective school activities.
JCC School District is responsible for what happens at Prom

Often, adult/parent chaperones are unaware of (out of town)

students who are attending JCC Prom
This can cause potential issues, such as
Police Liaisons have had to play a role in Prom Activities.

An effort to assist in creating positive behaviors from the

student body.

Proposed New Prom Policies

Prom will have an age limit. This is a change from the current
policies
The youngest a student can be is a sophomore academically wise.
The oldest a prom date (individual) may be is 20 years of age.
Unless otherwise determined by Building Principal or Dean of
Students.

Proposed New Prom Policies

(continued)
Out of town prom date (individual) must fill out an admission
form that has a valid picture ID.
The out of town prom date (individual) must also have their
schools administrator sign a release form stating this student is
academically eligible(good standing) in their school.

Proposed New Prom Policies

(continued)
When Prom begins, out of town dates (individuals) must have
his/her admission slip signed and have a current drivers license or
picture ID that matches the photo on the admission slip.
If the out of town prom date (individual) does not currently
attend high school, he or she must set up an interview with the
JCC High School Principal or Dean of Students. At the completion
of this interview the guest will be notified if they are allowed to
attend JCC Prom. All proper paper work must be completed prior
to the events on prom day.

Explain Influence(s) for Policy

Revisions:
Multiple surrounding school districts are adopting a policy that
is similar to the proposed policy JCC is considering.
Blue Earth High School: 30min east of JCC
Worthington High School: 25min west of JCC

JCC Administration has had to fill in permission slips for other

school district prom events.
Student handbook (expectations) for behavior and academic
eligibility.

Staff, Parent, Community

Involvement
Prom advisors have been playing an active role in policy
development and creation.
Parent and community involvement will be informed when the
policy is created and approved.
The new/updated/revised policy will be published in the local
newspaper discussing the reasoning for the policy.
