FINISHER TRANSPORT BEARINGS

We have developed a new bearing for use on the Finisher transport. See Figure 996F. The new
bearing is molded from a high temperature plastic and has demonstrated life improvement over the
existing oil-lite bearings, which average 1-3 million copies. Lubrication of the new bearings is NOT
RECOMMENDED.
In addition to offering an improvement in the life of the bearing, the new material also greatly reduces
the need to replace the transport shafts, which were commonly scored by the build-up of material on
the oil-lite bearing. Additionally, the replacement of the drive belt should be greatly reduced due to the
elimination of the friction caused by the binding shafts.
With the release of this bearing, MOD 36 and the MOD 36 replacement bearing are no longer
available.

SERVICING
A new TRANSPORT BEARING is now available. Order 6 BEARINGS to replace the BEARINGS on the
LOWER SHAFTS of the TRANSPORT ASSEMBLY. Testing has shown that the BEARINGS should last
8 to 10 million copies. The BEARINGS are made of a self-lubricating material called Meldin. This new
material prevents damage of the SHAFTS.
Caution
Do not lubricate these new BEARINGS. The use of a lubricant will cause failure of the BEARINGS.

Two conditions must exist for the FINISHER TRANSPORT BEARINGS to operate correctly:
1. When installing new BEARINGS there must be no scoring or damage to the TRANSPORT DRIVE
ROLLER SHAFTS. SHAFTS that are scored or damaged will score and destroy the new
BEARING.
2. There must be a 0.250-0.760 mm (0.010-0.030 in.) end play on the DRIVE ROLLER SHAFTS.
No end play will cause: a. Interference between the PULLEY and BEARING of the CENTER SHAFT.
b. The BEARINGS to overheat and bind.
