APPARATUS

AC energy meter (230V, 5A , 600rev/kWh)

Voltmeter (0-300V ac)
Ammeter ( 0-10A)
Wattmeter (230V , 5A)
Auto transformer (230V)
Rheostats (25 Ohms,10A)
Single phase, induction type Watt-Hour meters are used for the purpose of recording electrical
energy in kWh. The alternating fluxes produced by the voltage coil and current coil interact on
the axially pivoted aluminum disk and produce a driving torque Td.

T d VIcos
T d power AC circuit

A control torque ( c )

is obtained by employing a permanent magnet to act as an eddy

current brake on the aluminum disc. By the principle of eddy current break,
TcN
T c Angular speed of the disc
N
Therefore when the disc reaches its steady state speed ( s )

T c =T d
N s VIcos
speed of the disc power of the circuit
For a period of t , it can be written,

VI cos t
Ns . t
T

N s . dt= VIcos . dt
0

This will gives the no of revolution in a Period of time T, let that is n.
