The Energy Simulation

The Building was analyzed in eQuest. eQuest is building energy analysis software
designed and developed by DOE2 (Copyright James J. Hirsch).
e-QUEST uses the DOE 2.1 Building energy simulation engine. It has the ability to
explicitly model all of the following:
8,760 hours per year.
Hourly variations in occupancy, lighting power, miscellaneous equipment power,
thermostat set-points, and HVAC system operation, defined separately for each day
of the week and holidays.
Thermal mass effects.
Part-load performance curves for mechanical Equipment.
Capacity and efficiency correction curves for mechanical heating and cooling
equipment.
Lights, Equipment, HVAC require energy in the form of electricity which needs to be
saved in order to produce the sustainable outcome (Lighting, Work and Comfort).
Energy-modeling is the virtual or computerized simulation of a building or complex
that focuses on energy consumption of various energy related items such as air
conditioning, lights and equipment. To understand energy modeling, it's important to
understand building simulation.
Energy-Analysis or Energy-modeling is used to:
Predict the monthly energy consumption
Predict the annual energy cost
Compare and contrast different efficiency options

Daylight Simulation
Daylighting is the analysis of managing natural light to minimize the use of artificial
lighting, reduce carbon emissions, and positively affect the performance, mood and
wellbeing of occupants of any space. This can be predicted before constructing the
building. The prediction can be performed in the software by creating a virtual building
with virtual sky conditions.
For the Simulation of daylight inside the building, Analyzed in Ecotect Software (An
Autodesk product) with Radiance has been used. Ecotect enables the user to create a 3D
model of the building in question. Then the specific location of the building can be entered
through the weather file. Other parameters covered in the simulation include location of
the windows, visual light, ambient lux levels, date and time of simulation etc. The
Illumination analysis Radiance has been used. The output plugin of the Ecotect.
