Objectives of the material:


1. Introduce herself to the patient in the
ward
2. Asking how to address someone
3. Giving instruction to a patient to
press the call button for a help.

Imagine:
A nurse works in shift. Morning shift,
afternoon shift, or night shift. When rolling
the shift, a new patient may be admitted
into the wards. A nurse has to introduce
herself to the new patient.

Language Competency:
1. Hello, My name is..
2. I will take care of you today.
3. How can I address you?
4. May I address you with..?

Self introduction:
1. May I introduce myself?
2. How do you do
3. Where are you from
4. Etc.

Introducing another person formally


Let me introduce my friend to you : her name is
Catherine. Her hobby is travelling, she is from
Surabaya, She lives in Yogyakarta, she has lived
there for 6 years, she studied Nursing at STIKES
Muhammadiyah Klaten. She is married, she has
worked here for 8 months, she works Central
Sterile Department (CSD).

Case History Mrs. Egbewole


Mrs. Egbewole had a stroke (cerebrovascular accident)
about is 18 months ago. Her family look after her at
home. A nurse from home carer her with a twice a day
visit. She has come into the care home while her family
has a short holiday. The stroke has left Mrs. Egbewole
with left sided paralysis and poor balance, She doesnt
havedysphasia. But because the left side of her face is
also paralysed she also has slurred speech and dribbled
saliva. She has a problem with non verbal
communication because her facial expression is
