Postmodernism is not a break from modernism but rather a reflection on it. I'll discuss postmodern as a defense and reassessment of modernism. The relationship of surrealism to psychaonalysis just isn't as strong as I thought it was.

Sorry I didn’t tell you I was changing my research paper thesis.
The relationship of Freud’s psychaonalysis to surrealism just isn’t as strong as I thought it was, so I’m not doing that anymore. It is overdone anyway and I wouldn’t really be adding anything to it. So I decided to do my paper on postmodernism because I have found it to be more intriguing than my previous thesis. My new thesis will be that postmodernism is not a break from modernism but rather a reflection on it as to maintain its ideals of philosophical thought. I’ll discuss this in relation to Lyotard’s “What is Postmodernism” and “The Differend” and draw from sources reflecting on postmodern as a defense and reassessment of modernism.
