CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS:
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)
1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and
leadership from completing this field experience?
This semester I coached a teacher. I attempted to motivate her to increase her LoTi level. Her LoTi
level was 1. Our goal was to enrich her lesson plans. I learned to listen, respect the pupils pace,
and break down the information piece by piece with her rather than enforcing what I wanted for
myself only and not listening to those around me. Being able to listen to her point of view and
incorporate my skills with her wishes in a collaborative manner taught me endless information
about being an effective leader and mentor.
2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you
be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology
facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the
language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3knowledge, skills, and
dispositions.)
I learned that I need to develop skills, gain knowledge, and implement a shared vision (PSC
3.1/ISTE 3a, PSC 1.4/ISTE 1d). My skills are increased when I use more tactics to approach the
pupils (PSC 2.8/ISTE 2h). I need to be able to adapt and adopt technology which will not cause
the teachers to feel frustrated (ITSE 3f/ PSC 3.6). The pupils need to feel like the technology is
helping them instead of giving them more work to do (PSC 2.8/ISTE 2h). It is very important
to listen and give the others the opportunity to set up their own goals and develop
their own potential (ITSE 6.a / PSC 6.1, PSC 2.1/ISTE 2a).
3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or
student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?
Thanks to this experience one of our faculty members is using more technology to interact with
her students and analyze data. Our department also has the access to a digital book and two
teachers are willing to use this book next year. As a department, we also get a Language Lab for
our access only (the lab used to be shared with other departments, but not anymore after we
bought the lab). Mrs. Carvajals students are more engaged in her classes, and thanks to the new
technology they are participating more on a daily basis.
