POSITIVE vs.

NORMATIVE
1.)
Positive Statements:
Minimum wage increase will result in reduced employment and
hours of work for low-skilled workers.
Only a small percentage of minimum-wage earners are full-time
workers whose family income falls below the poverty line.
Normative Statements:
Minimum wage is a blunt weapon for redistributing wealth.
Raising the minimum wage is a way to help the working poor
without cost to taxpayers.
Other Argument:
Positive- Tax revenue will increase if there will be a minimum
wage hike.
Normative- Increase in cost of labor is a cause of unemployment

2.)
Oppose:
Positive- Increase in labor cost would jeopardize hundreds of
thousands of unskilled jobs.
Normative- Increase in minimum wage will force us to sacrifice
our employees.
Favor:
Positive- Increase in minimum wage will improve employees
productivity.
Normative- Increase in minimum wage will give joy to the
working poor.

3.)
My stand on this issue is not to increase the minimum
wage. Increasing this will be a lose-lose situation, business
leaders will invest more in capital instead of laborers causing
hundreds of employees jobs to be cut, also if there will be an
increase in wage for the working poor their tax responsibility
would also increase. Instead of increasing the minimum wage the
Government could solve the issue by giving out basic
commodities monthly, providing livelihood to the unprivileged,
education assistance for their children, etc.
