Homelearning

Curriculum Overview Term 3

Students were presented with

their homelearning tasks at the
end of Term 2. A calendar of

or big question. Children will also

have the opportunity to write
through personal choice. Genres
will focus on the structure,
language features, purpose and
proposed audience.

Start small, dream big!

INQUIRY - TECHNOLOGY TIME!

At the end of last term, the children
presented their Inquiries through
our Tell the World sharing session
to their peers. This term, they will
be further developing skills learnt
around the topic of Technology,
where they will endeavour to design
an invention to improve their
everyday lives. Through Inquiry
Learning, we support the children
with their research by teaching
them research strategies, not
necessarily content; that is, note
taking, summarising, putting
information into our own words,
skimming and scanning, using
search engines appropriately and
drawing on our prior knowledge to
name a few. We cant wait to see
the fabulous ideas the children
come up with!

ART
Art this term will incorporate print
making and Te Reo Maori, looking
at the culture, colours and symbols.
We are very excited about exploring
this topic and sharing it with the
children.

LITERACY
We will be integrating writing into
our Inquiry, beginning with
explanations where children will be
writing a piece based on their topic

MATHEMATICS
Formal Numeracy and strand
instruction will begin week 1.
Groups will be fluid. This means
children may change groups
throughout the term within the
zones, depending on their needs.
This term we are focusing on
fractions, proportions and ratios,
and for strand our focus will be
volume and capacity.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
This term we are continuing to look
at winter sports, before moving into
athletics to prepare for Clearviews
Term 4 athletics day. We will
continue our fitness programmes
throughout the term also.

TE REO
For Te Reo Mori this term, children
will be exposed to a range of
difference vocabulary and topics
through our rotations across the
team. We are looking forward to
incorporating this into our daily
programme also.

presentation dates has been

developed and put on the weebly,
as well as the new challenge! We
cant wait to see what the children
decide to do for this.
Mathletics and Spellodrome are
also part of our home learning,
with children striving to achieve a
minimum of 500 points per week
for each programme. Ideally 3-4
times a week for 15 minutes
would be amazing. Additionally,
we encourage the children to read
every night, just like sports
practice, the more we practise,
the better we get!
Key Competency
Our key competency this term is
Participating and Contributing.
This is a great opportunity for the
children to work on trying new
things, getting involved in wider
Clearview life and sharing their
ideas confidently with others.
Winter Sports
Winter Sports will continue until
Week 3 this term. Please ensure
