NURS 431- Transition to Professional Nursing Practice
Purpose of Assignment
The purpose of this assignment is to address the students attainment of all eight behaviors
and/or competencies that are specific outcomes of the program including: critical thinking,
nursing practice, communication, teaching, research, leadership, professionalism, and culture.
Student Approach to Assignment
This paper allows me to reflect upon my progression from sophomore to senior year in the
nursing program. I identify my progression through demonstrating how I achieved competency
in each of the eight core CPA competencies. Clinical logs written throughout the program are
used to identify specific examples in which I demonstrated these competencies.
Reason for Inclusion of the Assignment in the Portfolio
This assignment is a required paper in my portfolio that demonstrates my attainment of each of
the eight core nursing competencies: critical thinking, nursing practice, communication,
teaching, research, leadership, professionalism and culture.
