Exercise 1: Read the following group of words. Some of them are sentences. Others are not. Put a check mark before each group of words that is a sentence. 1. A garden of roses 2. Many wild pans and animals, Fist Quarter Lesson 2 Kinds of Sentences There are 4 kinds of sentences namely: Declarative sentence interrogative sentences, exclamation sentences and imperative sentences Kinds of Sentences 1. Declarative sentence - is a sentence that states or fells something .'t begins with a capital letter and ends with « period ( « Examples: | was looking for you Mother. ‘Young and old dance gracefully a! the skating ring. Interrogative sentence - begins with a copital letter and ends with o question mark. |?) Example: a. What do we have for lunch? b. Do young and old dance gracefully at the skating ring? c. Exclamatory sentence — a sentence that expresses a strong feeling ‘or emotion is an exclamation. An exclamation point (1) is placed at the end of a sentence: ‘expressing a strong feeling and begins with a capital letter. Examples: a. But can smell something burning! b. SSS ee Lesson 3 Possesive Form of Noun “Nouns change their form when iney express possession or ‘ownership, * We add an apostrophe ( *) and an $ to the noun to show ‘ownership, Examples: book of Tito = Tito" s book cash box of Lerma = Lerma’s cash Dox pillow of Baby Aren= Baby Aren’s pillow sewing kit of Lola = Lola's sewing kit store of Aling Nena = Aling Nena’s store Remember these rules! © | Fornouns that end in s, we just add an apostrophe. amples: the princess gown = the princess’ gown the actress films = the actress’ films the duchess possessions = the duchess’ possessions For nouns that form the plural by adding s, we also add an ‘apostrophe only. tho gishome = the gis’ home (okra bas the horses food = the horses food pia} the aunts advice the aunts! advice 3.
