Andrew C. Allen

Professional Background

Andrew Allen rejoined his former partners Peter Burke and Todd Harvey in May 2014, after having practiced law
with them many years as founding members of a predecessor law firm.
He is a native of New Orleans, La., and leads the firms labor and employment practice. Allen received his
undergraduate degree in 1984 from Birmingham-Southern College, his Juris Doctor in 1988 from the University
of Alabama School of Law, and served as law clerk to the Honorable Janie L. Shores, Associate Justice (retired) of
the Alabama Supreme Court, from 1988 to 1989.
He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Alabama and Mississippi, before the United States
Courts of Appeal for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits and before the United States Supreme Court.
Allen has successfully litigated hundreds of cases representing both employers and employees in the entire
spectrum of labor and employment, class action, securities, anti-trust, white collar criminal, and appellate
litigation.
Allen is a frequent presenter at labor and employment law seminars. He has served on the Executive Committee
of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Alabama State Bar since 2008 and served as its Chairman of
that Section from 2013 to 2014. He will remain on the Executive Committee as its immediate past-Chairman
through October 2015.
Allen is perennially listed in Chambers USA Guide to Americas Leading Lawyers, Super Lawyers, and
Birmingham Magazine as one of the leading attorneys in the region, the state and among Birmingham legal
professionals. Mr. Allen has held Martindale-Hubbell's highest peer-reviewed AV rating since 1998.
Allen enjoys playing golf, cooking, and spending time with his family. He is a member of the Highlands United
Methodist Church. He and his family have frequently volunteered to serve those less fortunate by feeding the
homeless through his churchs Community Ministries program.
