METHODOLOGY
A methodology is a set of ideas or guidelines about how to proceed
in gathering and validating knowledge of a subject.
Methodology collected throughout the project consisted through two
different types of data known as Primary and Secondary data.
Primary techniques consists of your own collection of data like land
sketch, questionnaires, observations and images. While on the other
hand Secondary data is collected via Internet or other ways of
already published / collected data.

PRIMARY DATA COLLECTED

Throughout the project the sorts of primary data collected consist of
the following:
Throughout the project I have included an interview with 5 different
people. This interview was directly
about asking wether they think if there is enough transport servicing
around the area. Many of the answers were similar but there is still
decent amount of data collected.

QUESTIONNAIRE
On the right is a questionnaire i created to give the participant a
thought of what they think about their area's transport
convenience.

SKETCH
A sketch created to show the base area of the shopping centre and
public transport services.

SECONDARY DATA COLLECTED

WEBSITES
Below are links forwarding to the websites I used to collect data to
find out what services run around the area. The websites showed
me where they are limited to from the shopping centre and correct
fare, and times of when they depart and arrive.

FINDINGS
TYPES OF TRANSPORT IN THE VICINITY
For the first finding of the project I wanted to have an understanding
of what are all the types of transport there are in the area. I found
that there were three types.
Taxis Buses Trains
I found that there are designated areas for taxis, and there are Bus
stops for buses and further down Herring Rd there is a Train station
accessible from both sides of the road. The information received
that there is mainly
all the public transport services available except for a Ferry Wharf.
These services are always available and Trains and Buses accepting
the new Opal Service for convenience for all transport services in
Sydney.

OPERATING TIMES OF TRANSPORT SERVICES

By using the research skills I have, I was able to find the times and
schedules for buses and trains, and I found that they run all the time
but times are more apart during the night. Taxis are the same with
more available during day hours. As I was researching I found that
taxis are available at any time and can be booked via the Taxis
Combined website.

SHORTAGES IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Shortages in public transport is rare around the Macquarie area as
there is a University parallel to the Centre which increases the

amount of people in the area needing to use this to get around. All
around the Macquarie Shopping centre there are easily accessible
types of transport to get all around the suburbs, even from the City
to all the way to Brisbane. Supporting this there are numerous Bus
stops outside the TGI Fridays or Max Brenner and a Taxi Bay directly
opposite.

MOST FREQUENTLY USED PUBLIC SERVICE

Basically asking people where they are going to was the simplest
way of collecting data for me as I politely asked a hand full to
complete this survey to help. As I observed on a Saturday morning
from 10 am - 11 am I located myself at the bus terminal for twenty
minutes, and it goes for trains. What I observed on
that Saturday was that straight away buses were used more in my
terms. From observations I think that from my perspective is
because local students and university students use more than the
train systems.

HOW FAR CAN PUBLIC TRANSPORT REACH

Researching on internet is what I thought was most appropriate for
this point as it shows pin point correction of where trains and buses
can reach from the services at Macquarie's Transport Services. On
the link below I have found two images that represents the further
most station each bus or train can reach.

MAIN ORGANIZATIONS INVOLVED

Researching on the Internet and by observations I found out that the
organisations involved in the vicinity of the shopping centre consist
of three different types. And an addition to the services run in the
area is an Uber service. I find that these services are most common
in all shopping areas I have visited in my time. Sydney Buses,
Sydney Trains, Taxis Combined / Silver Service and (Optional) Uber.

IS THERE ENOUGH TRANSPORT PROVIDED

In a shopping centre that has just recently become almost 2 times
bigger and more modernised with an amazing amount of additional
world known shops, bigger than before, not having enough transport
services in the area could be a major effect on the centres visitors.
As i went on the Saturday to to collect other data asking people of
their opinions of what they think of the amount of transport that the
public can use. I created a Table of four different titles and asked ten
- fifteen people but seven were willing to complete this.

HOW RELIABLE IS IT
Reliability of Public Transport has many people's trust to get them
from places to place on time. By handing out a survey this will help
me analyse it and record to see how people rely on it often or not.

HOW TO USE / PAY

There are many ways to pay for a bus fro starters, there are bus
tickets divided into categories depending on what person you are.
E.g. Pensioner, Student. This also goes for Trains, and all NSW
services have been fitted with the latest technology OPAL card
systems which are available on Trains, Buses and Ferries, which are
sold by Child, Youth, Adult and Pensioner same the old Bus tickets
which are currently trying to stop.

CONCLUSIONS
What is the state of the Public transport in the Macquarie shopping
Area
In the Macquarie Centre Vicinity there are three types of accessible
Public Transport Bus, Train and Taxi all available at a low cost.
At The Shopping Centre there is Transport available currently at all
times and easy to access and can be booked or phoned if needed
via Taxi.
Lack of Public Transport in the area is rare as there are all types of
Transport in the vicinity and there are stations and dedicated areas
for use of Vehicles.
As collecting data I was able to find more frequently used transport
than others through observing the area at a time in the mourning.
Supporting this University Students use Buses more frequently
opposite the bus terminal on the other side of Herring Rd.
Trains and Buses both have their Termination points as viewed on
images.
The three main organizations that run in the area are Taxis
Combined/ Silver Service / Uber, Sydney Buses and Sydney Trains all
run currently.

Observing wether or not there is enough transport was an important

factor to this project but the results of the five people interviewed all
came out differently and I could not come with a stable answer.
Macquarie Centre Transport Reliability as said before is important
and My results showed that it is very reliable to workers on a busy
morning at Centre.
Paying for Transport is getting easier by the day newer technology
has been announced to make systems easier and quicker.
