This document provides instructions for drawing a bike safety rodeo layout. It describes drawing a central 6x6 foot square intersection with approaching lanes, then parallel lanes on one side and a single lane on the other. Target points are measured and marked with X's to indicate the curved path between the lanes, which is then drawn to complete the layout.

Draw the intersection, with a 6x6 center square and two
3 lanes approaching from each side. Draw 5 lanes, 70-75 long, along the long side of your space, aligning lanes 3 & 4 with the intersection. At the other end of the lanes from the intersection, draw 3 wide crosswalk, and add diagonal striping.
X 1 2 3 4 5
Parallel to the 5 lanes, but on the other side of the space,
draw one 8 wide lane, about 80 long.
Then: The Curvy Parts
Measure out your target points, drawing an X at each one:
20 along the 8 lane (from the intersection end of the
space), then 3 toward the 5 lanes.
60 more along the 8 lane, then 3 toward the 5 lanes.
40 along the inside edge of the 5 lanes, then 3 toward the 8 lane.
From this last X, measure 7 more toward the 8 lane.
Draw a small O. Measure 14 from the O toward one end of the space. Put an X. Return to the O. Measure 14 toward the other end of the space. Put an X.
Choose the end middle points (eyeball them). Indent 3
in from the edge of the space, and put an X. You should now have Xs marking out the shape of the curve across the court (7 total).
Draw the curve:
Start with the chalk lined up with lane 4, or the lane just to the outside of the center lane. Arc to your first X, hitting it with the inside piece of chalk. Arc to the second X, hitting with the inside piece of chalk again. Arc to the next X and keep going to the rest of the Xs, making sure the SAME piece of chalk is hitting the Xs.
Finish by arcing to the outside lane connecting to
the intersection. Starting at the lane right next to where you just finished, the inside lane approaching the intersection, add a second lane to the curve by following along the inside of the curve you just drew. This should mean the same piece of chalk is hitting all the Xs again.
