National Night Out Against Crime and


Violence
July 29, 2015 Springfield, MA- On Tuesday, August 4 2015, neighborhoods throughout Springfield are
being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the Annual National Night
Out (NNO) crime and drug and gang prevention event. National Night Out will involve over 10,000
communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. In
all, over 40 million people are expected to participate in Americas Night Out Against Crime on
August 4, 2015.
National Night Out is designed to:
1) Heighten crime, drug and gang prevention awareness
2) Generate support for, and participate in, local anti-crime efforts
3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
4) Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

On Tuesday August 4th, residents in neighborhoods throughout Springfield and across


the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with the
neighbors and police. Many neighborhoods throughout Springfield will be hosting a variety of special
events.
This is a night for America to stand together to promote awareness, safety and neighborhood unity.
National Night Out Showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen
involvement in our fight to build a safer nation. On August 4th, we invite neighborhoods to join us in
Giving Crime & Drugs A Going Away Party.

Currently there are 10 National Night Out events planned in Springfield. The events are planned in
partnership with a variety of community partners. On August 4th, residents in neighborhoods throughout
Springfield and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on their outside lights and spend the
evening outside with neighbors the and police. Join us as we give crime a going away party.
