academic and experiential knowledge to support the Athens-Clarke County community, as well as the
communities of the state of Georgia and of the United States, during your internship. Our local
community is unique in that we collaborate with multiple governmental agencies, for-profit businesses,
public institutions, and non-profits to do whatever it takes for the success of all our children.
together to address those needs. Family Connection-Communities in Schools of Athens is the official
planning and coordinating body for children and families in our community.
FC-CIS Vision:
A quality of life in the community which supports and encourages the development of all families and
children and facilitates the educational, emotional, mental, spiritual, social, physical, and economic
growth of all individuals.
Three Pillars:
than 100 organizations working with families to improve outcomes for all children in Athens.
Neighborhood Leaders: Our Neighborhood Leaders program provides training and support to

Amplify Athens:
Amplify Athens is a concert-series that benefits FC-CIS and is hosted by Poverty is Real. Previously,
our involvement in planning was limited, but in order to expand funding from this event further
collaboration with us is needed. An area of possible expansion is in corporate sponsorships. Spencer
Smith is the head contact for this series. Talk with Tim about ways interns can be further involved in
the planning process. See the Amplify Athens binder for more information on past concert-series.
