IMPORT POLICIES
U.S. exporters continue to encounter tariff and nontariff barriers
that impede imports.
Many dialogues work to increase U.S. exports by highlighting
areas and sectors of bilateral commercial opportunity and
resolving practical issues that affect doing business in India.

TARIFFS AND OTHER CHARGES


Indias customs tariff and fees system is complex and
characterized by a lack of transparency in determining net
effective rates of customs tariffs, excise duties, and other
duties and charges.
Government has taken steps and continues to work with
state governments to adopt a national goods and services
tax (GST) that would replace most indirect taxes, including
various charges on imports
