Literacy Volunteers of Quebec (LVQ), the voice of volunteer-based
community literacy for English-speaking adult Quebecers, is looking for an individual to carry out a project on measuring non-academic progress in adult literacy learners.
Traditionally, educational progress and success has been measured using
standardized, objective tests. LVQ members do not currently have a tool with which to measure non-academic progress of literacy learners enrolled in their program.
The Project Agent would be expected to:
1) Carry-out a literature review of current documentation and tools on measuring non-academic progress in adult literacy students; 2) Select and pilot existing evaluation tools in LVQ member groups; 3) Modify the tools if necessary based on findings; 4) Train, or organize a training session for, LVQ member groups in how to use the selected evaluation tools. 5) Work under the supervision of the Project Manager (LVQ Executive Director).
Interested candidates should:
• Be familiar with LVQ’s mission and activities; • Previous experience in the adult education and/or literacy field is an asset, but not necessary; • Previous experience and/or familiarity as a researcher or using evaluation tools is an asset; • Be independent, dynamic and able to work with minimal supervision; • Be able to work from a home office; • Be familiar with MS Word and Excel.
Terms and Conditions
- Salary is $5,000 based on an estimated 200 hours of work. - Contract is to be completed by March 31, 2011.
