Verbal Section of CMAT has been aptly named Language Comprehension. The majority questions are of
two types , namely Reading Comprehension (RC) and Critical Reasoning (CR)

Moral of the story: Do not predict anything regarding verbal sections of CMAT (not even the length of the
RCs)
The following is the breakup of the questions of LC section as seen in September, 2013.
Break up of remaining questions:
Reading Comprehension 15 questions (5 passages, 3 questions each)
Critical Reasoning 2 questions
Parajumbles - 1 or 2 questions
Fill in the blanks 1 question
Synonym / Antonym -2 questions
Grammar Correct/Incorrect Sentence 2 questions
Idioms/ Phrases 2 questions
Fact, Inference and Judgment (FIJ)- 1 question
Success Mantra for cracking CMAT:
1. Extensive Reading Practice Novels atleast 15 to 16 over a period of 8 months. This will also help in
developing Grammar Skills
2. Vocabulary Learn 20 new words daily starting from 6 months prior CMAT. Try using these words in
whatever you say throughout that particular day.
3. Revise Grammar - Back to School Text Books
4. Mock CMAT: It is important to take as many mock CMATs as possible so that time Management and
other test taking strategies are in place before the actual CMAT.
Above all Lots of Discipline. Verbal sections does not require rigorous practice, it requires REGULAR
practice.
