Note from the Chair – Sharon Madden Nadeau

I took over the role of PTA chair in September this year and have already had the privilege of
attending the upper school celebration of achievement and handing over a cheque for £210
to the music department to help them purchase a portable piano. It is moments like these
that make all the hard work of all the members of our PTA worthwhile.

Like you, we are just a group of parents and teachers who would like to make a difference to
the school. Whilst fundraising is an important and enables us to help fund worthwhile projects
within the school, we are also looking at other ways in which we can support the school
including working more closely with the school council.

So whether you’re a teacher, parent or guardian, if you have any ideas, would like to attend
PTA meetings or simply help out every now and again why not contact me at

The Summer Raffle

This year we have decided to hold a Summer Raffle. We thought long and hard about what
prizes would interest parents and teachers and decided in the current economic climate to go
for cash which will enable the winner to put the money towards buying something they really
want. Tickets are £1 each and prizes are as follows:
First prize £250
Second prize £100
Third prize £50
The draw will take place on 6 July. If you would like to purchase tickets Please complete the
slip below and hand it in to the school office tickets will then be sent home with students. The
envelope clearly needs to be clearly marked "PTA Summer Raffle".

Race Night 12 March 2010

This is our first fund raising event in 2010. It is an adult only night and any funds
raised will be used by the Science Department to buy materials to set up and run an
after school Science club. This will be a race night with a difference as the horses are
mechanical. So why not come along and have a fun filled night? Place your bets and
race against friends, family and other parents and teachers to support the school.

The event will start at 6.30pm in the main hall, Welling School. There will be a total of
8 races, where you will be invited to place small bets on which horse will win each
race.

You can purchase fish and chips and sausage and chips with your tickets,
however food orders with payment must be received by 5 March 2010. Entry
only tickets will be available on the door on the night. Ticket prices are £3.50 entry
only or £7.00 to include a fish and chip supper (or £6.00 for sausage and chip supper).
Please feel free to bring along your own drinks.
