AN ACT Amending By-Law Section 280.01.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE ASWSUV SENATE:

Sec 1. Sections 280.01 reads as follows: All ASWSUV Senators shall be responsible to:
D. post and maintain at least two (2) office hours per week.

Sec 2. Sections 280.01 shall read as: All ASWSUV Senators shall be responsible to:
D. Post and Maintain at least two (2) office hours per week equaling eight (8)
hours per month. If eight (8) office hours are not performed by a Senator in any
given month, he/she must meet with the Vice-President and Pro-tempore.
1. If a Senator goes two months in an academic year without meeting the
requirement of eight (8) office hours in a month, the Senator in question
may be dismissed by impeachment process.

STATEMENT OF FACT:

The way the by-laws currently state it, there is no formal sanction for senators who do not
perform their office hours. This amendment will clarify that a Senator missing office
hours will face formal sanctions up to and including impeachment for not fulfilling office
hours. Having a warning after one month will allow the “Senator in Question” an
opportunity to defend themselves in the meeting with the Vice-President and Pro-
tempore.
