Project 3 Draft 2 Reflection
In this draft, I realized that my progression has not advanced. I think it was
because I was still confused with the whole objective, until I received Megans (my
instructor) feedback. Thus, with this draft, I still experienced difficulty trying to teach
what genre is, when it is a complicated concept at first, especially to my audience. I
learned that the drafts must be a lot more detailed to understand even the basic concept of
genre.
Unlike draft one, I created more details with draft two, including color to attract
my audience of six to ten year olds. In my first genre, the comic strip, I changed my last
page to create more humor, as the post-it note says, Without me, Santa would starve
when he drops off the gifts! This also made the conversation less repetitive, which draft
one differed from, I talk to Santa by being written I too talk to Santa by being
written! (Draft 1). In my second genre, I did not change the content. However, I did
change illustrative details. For example, the background is now yellow, which stands out
more. I also added little clip-arts to go along with the story line.
Although Megan enjoyed the humor and the story line with both of my genres
(they can be easily related to by my audience), she suggested that I create more details to
explain the concept of genre, especially with my childrens book. My childrens book
needs to include more details to clearly explain the elements of genres. Ultimately, my

ideas are there, but both need improvements, especially with the conventions of each
genre.
