Local Student Chases Dreams

As the alarm goes off promptly at eight a.m., Victor Ainza springs out of bed to start a
shift at California State University Fullertons library, immediately heads to a lecture after, and
finally juggles between homework and creating original beats on his disc jockey equipment in
his spare time.
To most undergrads the pursuit of a degree is a rite of passage; the state of limbo between
student and adult. While average students go through the motions of college, giving into the
social temptations that often drag down many collegiate pursuits, 21-year-old Ainza challenges
those mediocre ideals. The full-time student and aspiring DJ divides his time between chasing a
scholarly degree, working four part-time jobs, and proactively seeking exposure in the music
industry to fulfill his dream of becoming a professional DJ.
The junior is in his third year at the CSUF and expects to graduate with a bachelors
degree in communications within a year. Ainzas determination in school, participation in extracurricular activities on campus and in his community, along with his passion for making music
set him apart from other students.
In addition to taking up to 12 units or more per semester, Ainza is a member of CSUFS
public relations club, and works part-time in the school library. On top of all of his involvement
in school, he works for White Rabbit Entertainment Group as a DJ and event promoter; Rockstar
Energy Drink as a brand ambassador; and as a freelance DJ. No stranger to hard work, he takes
his life in stride and works at mastering the art of multi-tasking if it means getting closer to his
goal.

Ainzas coworker at CSUF, Thomas Parral said, Victors work ethics are like none other.
Every day he strives to be the best he can be and to better himself. He is very self-motivated and
will not settle for anything but excellence.
Ainzas background contributes to his determined, go-getter mentality. Growing up in
Whittier, Calif. amongst a middle-class family in a humble home and the first of his family to go
to college, Ainza said he had big dreams to get out of his small town to accomplish big things.
His passion for music and performing as a DJ have only grown since he first discovered it in
high school.
I discovered my passion for producing music during my senior year of high school when
I chose to save up all of my hard earned money and purchase my first mixer. Though it was only
$500 (cheap for DJ equipment) I used this as a stepping stone to learn the basics. Once I gained
the confidence in myself and in my performances is when my passion became more evident to
me, Ainza said.
Since his inspiration for music struck, Ainza has utilized all of the connections he has
made in college to create a networking platform that has propelled him in the right direction
under the name DJV3. He has come a long way since first performing in the backyards of his
friends high school house parties for free, to now landing paid gigs through his employer White
Rabbit Group at local clubs. He first gained notoriety when he became the top pick to DJ for
countless sorority or fraternity events and gained even more notice through his resident gig at
The Yost Theatre in Pomona, Calif. through White Rabbit. The tech-savvy student also increased
his self-made brand to the public through social media sites including Facebook, Instagram,
Twitter, and SoundCloud. Ainza said that SoundCloud has proved to be the most beneficial form

of new social media available for him. SoundCloud is a music-sharing website that allows artists
to create profiles that feature uploaded music content for fans to stream for free. With a growing
number of followers on all of Ainzas social media profiles, SoundCloud has the most at 1,200.
Among his events through CSUF and through White Rabbit Group, he is continuing to
increase the number of private events he spins for. His hard work and talent has allowed him to
collect a more substantial salary for his hobby. Ainza confirmed that he receives anywhere from
$250 to $1000 for events lasting anywhere from three to seven hours.
According to Ainza, one of the peaks of his DJ career so far was playing for the most
recent lead singer of Journey, Neal Schon and his family at a home in Orange County. This
brush with fame was both encouraging and rewarding for Ainza, as it validated his talent and
encouraged him to continue pursuing his passion.
Ainza said, It was a lot of fun, Neal Schon and his family were more than welcoming to
me and Im building my network slowly but surely. That gig was definitely an accomplishment
to me.
With aspiration for professional success in both the music world and the corporate world,
Ainzas ambition is inspiring. He is a motivated student that refuses to settle for just one of his
grandiose dreams. He is attacking them face on and coming out on top while his popularity
increases and he pushes forward in his academic and music career.

Unable to stop the

momentum, a music blog is in the works for Ainza and his long-time friend Jarett Castillo. The
blog will contain news and trends in music, original mixes, as well as the ability to stream
various songs. He plans to launch the blog in early spring 2014. With so much conviction, this
isnt the last time the public has heard about Ainza; in fact he is just getting started.
