The battle of the Alamo was an important time for Texans. Texas fought for their independence
against Mexico. The battle took place in San Antonio, Texas; the fort was viewed as defeating of
the Mexican Army. Colonel David Crockett led the troops to the Alamo where Lt. Colonel
William Travis was preparing for Crockett to arrive with his troops. Travis sent reinforcements
when he became aware that Santa Annas men were surrounding around the fort of the Alamo. In
March, Santa Annas army had received over a thousand reinforcements against Travis. The day
after Santa Anna terrorized Travis, he had his army of men invade the fort killing the remaining
troops. Santa Anna had his army surrounding around the Alamo. At the time Santa Anna
surrounded the Alamo, it took an explosion on General Sam Houston time to gather
reinforcements, arm men, and the plan for the liberation of Texas. The battle of the Alamo
signifies freedom and victory. It was a phenomenon that even after the great sacrifice of the first
battle which was lost; they went on to win independence for Texas against the army of Mexicans.
By the way Mexico sees the battle of the Alamo an entirely different view. Mexico used to own
Texas when it was underpopulated and allowed a limited number of legal Anglo Saxons to
populate Texas to help protect it against Indians and help the Mexican economy. Suddenly they
realized a large number of non-legal Anglo Saxons had overcrowded the state, and leaving the
rest to history to understand why the Anglo Saxons brought a large crowd with them. The Alamo
is viewed as the symbol of Americas freedom. Significance of the Alamo is the Texans were
allowed great victory and that they were capable of defeating or losing any battle they
approached or came their way. The battle was notorious because the United States of America
helped the Texans fight and secure for their independence from Mexico. The battle of the Alamo
will be remember for centuries and is now a national monument at the Alamo.
