Dear Mayor Hokanson;

I would like to inform you of two separate complaints I received regarding the
Peruvian Day Celebration at the Casano Center. The first complaint came from
Maxine Padulsky and she alleges that at the event a Spanish-speaking woman who is
friends with Joe Deloria and Thos Shipley was campaigning for them at the event
held at the center.
The second complaint came from Councilman Richard Templeton and he alleges
that his wife who also speaks Spanish actually heard the woman campaigning.
Their concerns now are, in September there will be an art show coming to the
center and Thos Shipley was asked to sing at the event. According to Maxine no
mention of Thos singing was mentioned when the application was made and the
woman running this event is friends with Thos and may be politically motivated. Mr.
Templeton also has these concerns.
I would like to propose that we adopt a policy for the center and I will bring it to the
members of the Casano Center Committee that anyone seeking a political position in
the town that they or their associates cannot campaign at the Casano Center and use
_these public events to their advantage. Such events as the Peruvian, Columbian, etc..
are to bring the community together as a whole not for anyone to take advantage or
use an event for their personal agenda.
In closing an addition to our bylaws possibly can be that anyone seeking a political
position cannot campaign at the center or and if they do they must leave the event.
