Interior life. Residents of Sitio Tugas, Barangay Mambaling try to look for anything valuable after the fire that hit the neighborhood. The City
Government will re-block three sitios to allow vehicles, such as firetrucks, access to the areas interior.

THE Cebu City Government will implement a re-blocking in three sitios of Barangay Mambaling that were affected by
fire last Friday, including houses that were spared from the blaze.
The Division for the Welfare of the Urban Poor (DWUP) conducted a socio-economic survey in the area to determine
how many houses will be affected by the move.
Right now, we are in the assessment stage on how to handle the intention of the project, DWUP Chief Collin Rosell
said.
In a meeting with fire survivors, Rosell said the families were cooperative with the re-blocking plan to prevent the
same incident.
During the fire, firefighters were not able to penetrate easily because of the narrow roads.
Of the total lot area that will be subject to re-blocking, Rosell said, the DWUP will allocate public spaces, like chapels,
communal toilets and parks, among others.
As standard, a road network that will connect the community to the main road will also be built.
We cant determine yet the sizes of the home lots that we will distribute because we will still the identify the public
facilities that will be constructed, Rosell said.
Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CCDRRMO) completed the makeshift classrooms where
classes of Mambaling Elementary School and Mambaling Night High School will be held while fire survivors are
occupying some of the classrooms of the school.
CCDRRMO Executive Director Simeon Romarate said the school gym was converted into a temporary learning
facility.
Tomorrow, the Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS) will distribute the financial assistance to the
affected families.
Were trying to finish the process today (yesterday) so we could give the financial assistance, DSWS Chief Ester
Concha said.
Each family will get P10,000 from the City, aside from the housing materials.
