Experiencing natural catastrophes have been part of

our lives as these phenomena are unavoidable and

inescapable. In these situations where humans are not in
full control, nature had been showing its powers in the
form of calamities such as typhoons, floods, volcanic
eruptions, tsunami and earthquakes. These unavoidable
calamities can bring about total destruction depending on
their magnitude and strength. And because of that fact,
the best we can do is to prepare for it and be equipped
with precautionary measures and risks reduction
strategies to ensure safety and security on these
unpredictable circumtances.
The 1-day training entitled Teachers Training on
Communication Earthquake and Tsunami Hazards
sponsored by the Philippines Institute of Volcanology and
Seismology (PHIVOLCS) last May 26, 2015 at Hiyas ng
Bulacan Convention Center. Teachers in Bulacan are
blessed to have this kind of training with Dr. Renato U.
Solidum, Director of PHIVOLCS, and speakers from
PHIVOLCS have enough knowledge about the topic their
discussing. Aims to dessiminate necessary information
that is needed to properly educate the people on how to
be prepared for these uncontrollable disaster. All are
interested to the topic discussed and participating with
the speaker and listen enough to learn.
This training is very significant because it equips us
with necessary steps that should be done during the
occurrence of unexpected calamity like earthquake. It
lessens the risks and the casualties that may happen. It
also provides us awareness and knowledge so that
panicking will be avoided thereby ensuring organized
evacuation for safety. This only proves that preparation is
always an important thing to consider.
