Construction: In the above diagram e1 and e2 are the electromagnets which are activated
according to the pattern. R1 and R2 are the retaining hooks, h1 and h2 are the moveable hooks,
k1 and K2 are the two sets of knives which move simultaneously up and down. D is the double
roller and t is the harness cord.
Step-1 (Lower shed position): Hook h1 in its upper most position has placed retaining hook r1
against electromagnet e1. According to pattern e1 is activated & prevents hook h1 from locking
on to retaining hook.
Step-2: Hook h1 & h2 move downward & upward together with the knife k1 & k2. Upper pulley of
the double roller compensates the movement of the hook.
Step-3: By the upward movement of the knife k2, hook h2 has placed retaining hook r2 against
electromagnet e2. According to the pattern e2 is not activated, causing retaining hook r2 catch
or lock hook h2 in its upper position.
Step-4 (Upper shed position): Hook h2 is caught on retaining hook r2. Hook h1 follows the rising
knife k1 & thereby lifts the harness cord.
Step-5: Hook h2 remains hooked on to retaining hook r2. Hook h1 has placed retaining hook r1
against electromagnet e1, by the rising motion of knife k1. According to the pattern, the magnet
is not activated, causing hook h1 to catch on to retaining hook r1.
Step-6: Both hooks h1 and h2 are caught on retaining hook r1 and r2. Knives k1 and k2 rising &
lowering respectively.
