Hello. Welcome to Cowboy Nation! We are excited that you will be joining the distinguished history and tradition
of the Coppell High School family! The next four years will be an amazing experience; its essential however that
we calibrate our next steps to ensure that we are prepared for our new school-learner partnership.
From this point forward, your learning and your academic progress are in your hands. This is a fresh start! Every
grade in every class will count for credit toward your gpa (grade point average) which is one of many
indicators that universities and jobs use to evaluate your competency. You are receiving this agreement because
you did not perform well in one or more of your classes in middle school and we are confident that you are
capable of doing better. With some assistance and your commitment to this agreement, we know you will exceed
expectations in high school. Our goal is to be proactive in our approach to transitioning to high school. As one of
our freshmen, we are committed to assist you along your journey. Its imperative that we, as a unified team,
adhere to the following expectations for the first semester:

watch the Next Steps video with your parents [the link will be sent out via e-mail before school begins]
meet with your teacher(s) within the first two (2) weeks of school to talk about the class expectations
attend at least one regularly scheduled tutorial time per week for the class(es) of concern
write all assignments in an organizer (iPad calendar) and check it nightly
set aside a designated time and place at home to complete school work and to study each night
reassess all major assessments below 70 for content growth
complete all homework and class work assignments on time
actively participate in class and seek help when needed
schedule a check-in with your counselor once per six-weeks

We surveyed successful freshmen to learn their secret. And now, the secret is unleashed! We sincerely believe
that you will be successful with these next steps. We cannot stress this enough: It is imperative that we, as a
unified team, work together to ensure your success. Please take some time to review the plan with your parent and
develop a routine that best serves your academic needs.
